The Meaning of Reiki
The word Reiki (pronounced ray-key) comes from two Japanese words: rei, meaning universal or divine, and ki, meaning life energy, the same subtle force known as chi in China and prana in India. A Brief History of Reiki
Reiki as it is known today was developed in Japan in the early 1920s by Dr. Mikao Usui, following a period of deep meditation and study. His system, Usui Reiki, was carried forward by students such as Chujiro Hayashi and Hawayo Takata, who helped bring Reiki to the wider world. How Reiki Works
